BRIEF OVERVIEW
This course provides a comprehensive study of the nature and character of the Christian mission worldwide. It covers the biblical foundation of mission, the historical development and expansion of the global Christian movement and the current issues and challenges facing mission today. The central theme of this course is that mission starts from God’s missionary nature or missio Dei where the Church participate in his suffering to bring glory to God through reconciling and transforming world cultures and communities. The students will understand the nature of the Church of Jesus Christ and its biblical basis for missions, the Church’s cross-cultural mission, the historical dynamic of its mission today, and the role of the local Church in world evangelisation.
